Ek Balam, which means Black Jaguar in the Mayan language, is one of the most incredibile archaeological sites with buildings dating from the Late Preclassic times. It is a unique discovery and today one of the most important in the studies of ancient Mayan writing. The originality of Ek Balam is the impressive stucco on the walls of the main temple of the site.
