Akumal

Akumal is a small resort town located 20 minutes north of Tulum. It is a small community of condos and private villas situated on two beautiful bays, Akumal and Half Moon Bay which are both well known for their fabulous snorkeling. Akumal, the Place of the Turtle in Mayan, was one of the first places settled along the Riviera Maya as a mecca for divers. The reefs just outside of Akumal, along the of the second largest barrier reef in the world, are some of the best places to dive along the coastline.

If you are looking for a more economical option their hotel rooms are very comfortable with private bathroom, satalite t.v., friobar and patio or terrace overlooking the Caribbean sea. They are perfect rooms for single travelers or couples or friends. They are all oceanfront! It is hard to find a better deal along the coast.

If you are looking to do ocean diving then this is a perfect place as the dive shop is located just steps from the hotel and condos. They offer all levels of PADI scuba courses, dive packages, and fishing tours. Akumal is not a good place to go kiteboarding as the bays are very shallow and there are not any good launching areas but you are only 20 minutes from one of the best kiting locations along the coast, Tulum. A quick drive away and you can join us at El Paraiso for all your kiting needs.
